How We Got Our Start

Kettlebells and their precursors have been around a long time.  Originally, as the tale goes, these were just weights used for massive scales. Over time in the 1700's farmers, laborers, and workers of all stripes would lift these to show feats of strength.
In today's world, many of us grew up or still lead a mostly sedentary lifestyle.  Many of those who choose careers in construction or labor of any kind don't have the physical prowess to remain injury free. I was guilty of this and was hurting my shoulder and lower back frequently.   Then I was introduced to the kettlebell and "Hard Style."  Within a year of use I no longer hurt myself at work. After 10 years of being hard-headed for HS, I was introduced to kettlebell sport and my eyes were opened to so much more.  Through my experiences I realized that as those laborers from the 1700's toiled and worked all their life to use that strength to lift these massive weights for sport, modern laborers can use kettlebells conversely: incorporate them in our everyday life/workout routines to be strong in our livelihoods.  Using this inspiration, we started GirevikAF to facilitate sport and life through competitions, training, and unique apparel.  We lift for sport.  We lift for life. We are GirevikAF.
